Week 8 Part B: Your Instagram Hashtag Use
Using hashtags for post in order to reach more people is an interesting tool that Instagram has.
When I created the posts this week I thought about what hashtags should I use, once I should limit the quantity to look professional and should be wise to know which ones would be effective. Since my niche is Jiu Jitsu/Gym/Lifestyle the hashtags I used are the ones related to those topics.
#jiujitsu #brazilianjiujitsu #bjj #ibjjf #lifestyle #grappiling #lifestyle
I chose these hashtags based on other jiu jitsu accounts that I did some research and observed that they are the most trendy ones.
Since the Instagram page is not a business yet, but a person and his image is the product, the hashtags aren't specific with the name of the future gym we want to open, but more specific to his field and to attract people who wants to have classes with him.
In one week I posted 3 times. One post on Monday, one on Wednesday and one on Saturday. But I feel that the content of the posts were more relevant than the time it was posted, specially because the instagram page has a large amount of followers located in Brazil, where is 4 hours ahead the US. So this is a challenge when we think about the time to post, and I have decided to post on mornings/afternoon here in the US, since people are still on social media, rather than at nigh time where in Brazil people can be sleeping and might lose the post.
I learned from this exercise that hashtags can be a great resource to use when we are trying to work on our instagram. It can attract more people and lead to the page be more popular with more followers. Hashtags should be related to your niche and the words that you want to your business be reminded/known for. Using hashtags can help your business to grow once more people might be able to find your Instagram page.
Hi Larissa,
ReplyDeleteI like how you found other businesses similar to your account to figure out what hashtags work best. While I don't struggle to the extent that you did in figuring out what the best times to post are, I can understand the challenge of followers living in different time zones as I have followers from the east and west coast. I'm glad you found the days and roughly the time of day that works for you!
Matt
Hi Larissa- it’s been so fun to follow along with your posts and learn more about this martial art and the whole practice and lifestyle surrounding it! Your hashtags work well and are appropriate and simply stated. Interesting note on the time part-I can definitely see that as being an issue. One page I’ve been an admin for, my other admin was located in Japan. And so when she posted during her daytime, it was night here and engagement dropped. Definitely something to keep in mind going forward.
