Week 10 Part A: Researching Email Marketing
For my business I think It would be interesting to send a weekly newsletter to our students. I think Friday is a good day since it's we can have a wrap up of the week or plans for the week ahead. I worked in a Jiu Jitsu gym in the past as the assistant manager and it was a good experience to learn about do and do not do at the gym in term of managing it. They didn't have a weekly newsletter but I always thought it would be interesting since the students created a community where they wanted to hear more information about the gym and get together when any event was happening. That is something that I could incorporate on my business. And not all students are obligated to be part of the newsletter, of course. When they sign up they can choose to receive information on their email or not when they sign the waiver of liability and provide their contact. I also think this is a good way to create a closer contact with the customer, if they want/are interested in receiving more info about the gym and their colleges, specially the kids and parents (kids can celebrate their birthdays at the gym, are always interested in small celebrations like fun Friday, crazy hair day...) and for adults it's interesting to share interesting advice from our coaches.
The content of the messages could be about:
- the school's activities/schedule,
- birthdays of students
- celebrations (holidays that we would do something at the gym like halloween parties, Christmas get together...
- competitions coming up
- promotions
- tips/information about jiu jitsu and fitness lifestyle.
From newsletter that I receive I don't like when its too frequent and when its information that are somewhat persuasive, like when they try to convince me to buy something because I'm missing out. I rather read about why/how your product is good and why I would benefit from it. I like promotions too, but I don't like when I receive the same email with the same promotion for months when I feel that they are trying to show that it's a deal that I am missing when it seems the real price since its been on "sale" every week. Those are things to keep in mind when I create my newsletter for my business.
Hey Larissa, I loved how organized your thoughts were! The idea of a weekly newsletter seems like it would work really well for your business, especially with the ideas you presented!
ReplyDeleteHi Larissa,
ReplyDeleteI think the content of your newsletters is perfect! It is informative and also fun and creative!
Hey Larissa,
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you that it is bothersome when businesses are trying too hard to get you to buy their products, instead, your approach is very welcoming and neutral. I also like your content ideas for the newsletter, you have a good amount of variation.
